A Change In Direction: An Open Letter

We’ve Moved! I’ve Moved.

It’s been just over a year that KNEWYU has been running and today is the day that it stops – well, moves on.

I wrote a long email to those who were contributing to the site and want to share some parts of that with you as well as what’s going to happen next!

‘When I first went into uni, I had the idea that I was going to do something for God because I’m a Christian – more specifically a Seventh Day Adventist – and want to do something for my Christian (SDA) community. Studying Music Business I wanted to focus on Gospel and do something based around that whether it be a record label or something else. I also wanted to continue to do what I loved which is to merge fashion and music together in the form of a blog.

I changed my other blog, Street Meets Style and re-birthed it to become what is known as KNEWYU. It started off as health and fitness blog because I wanted to help people to get to know themselves, find out their likes/dislikes and goals, and then help them put a plan together to achieve their dream life. I also wanted it to be a place where people can leave inspired, educated, and motivated to make a change and be a better version of themselves.

I’m going to be honest: when I started doing the radio show, BKFST With Nadine and all the other projects that I was doing, I lost track of those original goals. I let the outside influence what I knew on the inside. I wasn’t aloud to do a Christian/Gospel radio show and I literally felt ashamed when some of my Christian friends came to me all excited saying they wanted to listen to my show and I had to tell them that it wasn’t what they thought.

With all that said, I am NOT happy with KNEWYU and how it’s going or where it’s going for that matter. I DON’T however blame ANY of you about that because it was my decision and it was ME who lost track of what I wanted not you.

I no longer want to be writing or sharing anything that isn’t about Christian music or the Christian lifestyle. I no longer want to be going in that direction because it is not bringing any meaning in my life. I have no passion for it. Sometimes I’m not even comfortable with it. It’s not who I am or what I’m about.

I was considering giving it away or deleting it but I feel like that would be wrong because of not all the effort was mine alone.

I still believe KNEWYU is going to be something, just not that thing that it was probably headed to before.’

Well, that’s some of what I said to the group. But I don’t however believe that last statement anymore. Sometimes if you have been doing something for so long and people associate that thing with whatever it was you were doing, it’s hard to change that persons association.

I no longer want to be associated with KNEWYU in that respect but I am more than happy for people to read this then look at the site and then look at what I do after and say to themselves that it’s ok to lose track of what you want in life because you can always find your way back to where you wanted to be.

So, you’re probably wondering what’s next?

Well, I have finally officially launched my new site, MMU Collection which is a lifestyle website which touches on faith,  health and fitness, hair and beauty, Christian/Gospel/Worship/Conscious music, fashion, and much more with an emphasis on young black women.

You don’t have to follow MMU Collection, as I understand it’s different, but I’m just happy that KNEWYU can end the way it was and how people see it and MMU Collection can start in the way I wished KNEWYU was and hopefully people will associate it with what I want it to be.

Thank you one and all for following along on KNEWYU’s journey.

You may have noticed that all the KNEWYU social media has changed over to MMU Collection so if you’re curious to see what the new changes on, then keep on following, if not, I won’t be offended if you hit that unfollow as I know it’s not the kind of content that you wanted to follow in the first place, but I hope that you do like the “new direction” anyhow.
