Song of The Day By Parcels

Parcels are an Australian band now living in Berlin and touring the world with probably my longest favourite indie band ever, Two Door Cinema Club! I’ve always said that most of my favourite bands and artists have come from Australia – whether they were born there or moved there before I heard their music and Parcels can definitely be added to that list.

I came across Parcels 5 months ago when I was searching up something from one of my favourite Chillwave bands, Tora. When I followed Parcels on Instagram I noticed that all the members of Tora were following them too as well as Julian Steel of the roots/blues/reggae band The Black Harry’s when I liked their Facebook page. I knew that if they were following these guys, then I should be too! Then I realised that three of the Parcels members were part of the group, Potato Potato and then everything clicked and I knew that this new project, Parcels was going to be the 1!

I think it’s safe to say that I’m kind of obsessed with these guys and have been since I saw their first YouTube video all those months ago.

I have been listening to their EP, Hideout none stop and as ironic as it is, the single Hideout became my song. Whenever I was feeling a little bit down, I would play this song probably 5 or 6 times. If I was feeling great and felt the need to boogie a bit, then I would play this song – again, probably 5 or 6 times in a row. The 4 part harmonies, the 70’s throwbacks, the great outfits, the great hair, the great dance moves! Yes Patrick, I see you! It all just makes so much sense.

I can’t wait for these guys to come to Birmingham so I can see them perform live because I know that it’s just going to be great! I’ll be the one dancing like a crazy person and singing back all the lyrics at the top of my lungs, just so you know!
