Heart of Glass
I have been a fan of Postmodern Jukebox for years now and have really appreciated their inclusion of solo artists whether that be singers, dancers or musicians in their videos.
This time, the PMJ team invited singer, Addie Hamilton to join them in an Old Hollywood style cover of the famous Blondie song, Heart of Glass, and I have to say that it is absolutely stunning!
So, the question you probably have in your minds is, ‘Why is it the song for the day?’ Well, yesterday and the day before, I attended the MODA Tradeshow in the NEC which is where hundreds of lingerie, menswear, womenswear, footwear, and accessory designers and stores showcase their Autumn/Winter collections. I came across the famous, Hell Bunny section and it immediately triggered my love for 50’s style clothing.
If you have been reading KNEWYU for a while, you will remember that vintage has always been a part of my life. There’s something about the 30’s-50’s that is so classy, elegant, fun, and just…well, me. It’s something that is always going to be a part of my life.
Anyway, it caused me to begin looking through my archives of retro/vintage goods (music and fashion wise) and I saw this beauty and fell in love with it all over again.
To be honest, it was between this song and Sleigh Ride by Ella Fitzgerald – but I wasn’t sure how many of the KNEWYU readers and KNEWYU music listeners would appreciate hearing something that is kind of classed as a Christmas song in February (even though I listen to Christmas music all year long!)
Listening to this song in the morning makes me want to take on the day and put my best foot forward. I want to dress to the 9’s (I don’t mean breaking the bank, I mean dress my best with what I have), I want to work hard, I want to enjoy life and live in the slow lane. I always feel more elegant listening to this song and I hope you feel the same!
Let me know what you think of the song in the comments and how it makes you feel.
