We interviewed this stunner, Harry Jordan aka Hayley Jordan, the rockabilly/blues singer/songwriter and guitarist!
Find out all about her love for Elvis, how she got into music, and what tips she has for aspiring musicians and singer/songwriters in the interview below.
KNEWYU: HOW DID YOU GET INTO MUSIC? DO YOU COME FROM A MUSICAL FAMILY?
HARRY: Not at all! Music was just something I was drawn to at an early age, I had my first guitar when I was around 8 years old after pestering my Dad and the rest is history!
K: WHY BLUES/ROCKABILLY?
H: One of my first musical loves was Elvis, I remember being really young and watching his films all the time! I think this has had a huge impact on my musical taste. I love Rock n Roll and Rockabilly, there’s just something really electric about playing it!
K: DO YOU HAVE ANY HOBBIES OUTSIDE OF MUSIC?
H: Although music takes up most of my time I’m an absolute make up junkie! I have a huge love for fashion too and love a good hunt for a vintage piece!
K: GOING ON FROM THE LAST QUESTION, WHAT IS A NORMAL DAY LIKE IN THE LIFE OF HARRY? WHAT DOES A TYPICAL RECORDING SESSION LOOK LIKE?
H: Our recording sessions are always really fun! I’ really lucky the musicians I get to work with all have great senses of humour so long recording sessions fly by!
K: WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE ARTISTS/MUSICIANS?
H: Besides the love of my life, Elvis!? I’ve so many influences, Howlin’ Wolf, Etta James and Johnny Cash would be the artists I’d say have inspired my own musical style most!
K: DOING THE KIND OF MUSIC YOU DO, YOU ALSO HAVE TO LOOK THE PART AND YOU DEFINITELY LOOK THE PART! YOUR STYLE IS SO CHIC! WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE DESIGNERS AND WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO OUTFIT FOR PERFORMING?
H: I love a good high street buy! My favourite stores are Motel Rocks, Asos and Boohoo! For performing, I love little black playsuits teamed with a vintage jacket or some sequins!
K: WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR CAREER SO FAR, WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE FUTURE, AND WHEN WILL YOUR NEW MUSIC BE RELEASED!?
H: The highlight was recording at Magic Garden Studios with Gavin Monaghan! He’s an incredible producer! The future, I would love to play more festivals, playing live is what it’s all about for me! The new EP ‘Devil In A Push Up Bra’ will be released at the end of August!
K: WHAT TIPS CAN YOU GIVE TO ASPIRING SINGER/SONGWRITERS?
H: Believe in what you do, be prepared to work hard and be grateful for every opportunity!
